Senior Infrastructure, Performance and Operations Architect

Job Purpose: The Infrastructure, Performance and Operations (IPO) group resides in Global Services in the Global Solutions Engineering and Architecture organization. The IPO group delivers expert services that support solutions focusing on the customer’s infrastructure, systems operations and application performance.

The suite of expert services spans a wide range including installations, upgrades, performance health checks, application readiness risk assessments, load and scale testing analysis, CTI Infrastructure telephony support during projects, IVR integration, system management monitoring and operations integration, hardware resource sizing model estimates, application capacity planning, specialized expert services involving performance Benchmarking, prior Pega software generation (PegaWORKS) migration support to the PRPC architecture generation, Mainframe based zSeries services and adhoc consulting services covering any of the above areas.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Provide Thought Leadership with respect to all technical aspects of PRPC infrastructure, performance and operations. This includes but is not limited to:
PRPC architecture.
PRPC Frameworks and supporting add-on Pega product architecture.
3rd party supporting technology. Some examples: DB2 for zOS, Websphere, CTI.
Persuasive judgment of how Pega solutions may be implemented to maximize results.
Demonstrate an expert-level (Pega and non-Pega) environment & technical knowledge; ability to implement highly scalable & performing PRPC solutions that strategically fit in the customer’s enterprise.
Educate the customer on Pega’s value proposition, seeks other opportunities where Pega’s solutions could deliver value.
Provide a suite of performance and operations based expert services.
Assist with planning and execution of unit, integration and user acceptance testing.
Ability to act as a critical business partner and trusted advisor.
Strive for excellence, coaching & mentoring junior staff.
Facilitate knowledge transfer of PRPC functionality and application functionality.
Other responsibilities and key result areas will be assigned as required.


Education and Experience Requirements:
Must have authorization to work for any employer in the US
BS with 5 years of experience, or Masters Degree with 2 years of experience (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering).
Experience should be in a systems developer or architect role, providing:
Two years PRPC experience and PRPC Certified System Architect (CSA) certification or five years of comparable business rules, BPM and call center experience.
Experience in analysis, design, development, and deployment of large scale multi-tier enterprise application systems.
Experience in application integration technologies including one or more of the following – EJB, XML, JMS, MQ, RMI, CORBA, .NET, SOAP,LU 6.2, MDB.
Experience with design, implementation and performance of databases on one or more enterprise class technology (DB2, DB2 LUW, Oracle, MSSQL, Sybase, VSAM, IMS-DB).
Experience in operation and performance of application servers (Websphere, JBoss, Weblogic, Tomcat, CICS, IMS-DC, Tuxedo, Encina).
Performance analysis and debugging experience
Industry domain expertise (optional)
PRPC Certification (CSA) is achieved as part of the standard employee enablement. Additional certification of senior PRPC Certification (CSSA) within twelve to eighteen months of joining Pegasystems is desired.

Lead Performance Architect
Job Purpose: Work with customers, partners and peers to ensure that PRPC-based application solutions achieve and maintain excellent performance and end-user response time. Responsible to investigate, assess, analyze, document and remediate performance issues. Lead, guide and teach developers and administrators in performance analysis tools and techniques and guide infrastructure, network, desktop and database administrators to achieve optimal performance for their PRPC-based solutions.
Roles and Responsibilities: Provide leadership, insight and technical expertise in all aspects of PRPC application performance. This includes but is not limited to:
• PRPC product architecture
• PRPC application design and implementation
• Database performance and tuning
• Interface implementation and performance
• Network and desktop connectivity, configuration and performance
• Java application server performance and tuning
• Work with minimal supervision providing tactical leadership while demonstrating appropriate technical, cultural, and political awareness, tact and sensitivity.
• Demonstrate expert level understanding of end-to-end application architecture, performance instrumentation and performance tuning, including desktop/browser, network, java application server, database and interfaces/integrations
• Apply understanding to assess, identify and remediate latency, capacity or efficiency issues at every layer of the overall application.
• Analyze ‘sick systems’ to find root cause and remediation.
• Assess application performance and efficiency prior to go-live to ensure customer success.
• As needed, guide application load testing, ensuring relevance and investigating / remediating issues as found.
• Educate customers, peers and partners to achieve better understanding of performance analysis.
• Serve as instructor in formal classroom setting as needed.
• Mastery of PRPC business rule application development platform.
• Develop and demonstrate expertise in PRPC architecture and performance tools.
• Demonstrate success in discovery and remediation of application issues and achieving optimal tuning and application response.
• Successfully educate customers, partners and peers in proper performance assessment tools, techniques and best practices.

Sr. Director BPM Adoption and Centers of Excellence

This role manages a team of globally located Business Process Management (BPM) and experts. The role focuses on driving the BPM Adoption through establishment of Centers of Excellence (CoE) and/or Competency Centers.

Director of Business Process Management - Professional Services

Job Purpose: As a member of the extended Global Professional Services leadership team, this role manages a team of globally located Business Process Management (BPM) and Pegasystems Rules Process Commander (PRPC) experts. These experts own the following strategic KPA’s of the Pegasystems’ Customer messaging and implementation best practices. The role focuses on the development of organizational competency in our Professional Services delivery organization and our Customer’s PRPC development centers to drive BPM Adoption through establishment of Centers of Excellence (CoE) and/or Competency Centers.

KPA’s, Roles and Responsibilities:
• Implementation Methodology- Owns the continued development of Pegasystems official agile implementation methodology. This methodology is derived from industry standard methodologies including RUP and SCRUM. The ideal candidate will manage the internal team of practitioners that:
o Create and deploy all methodology based artifacts
o Field support inquiries from Pegasystems’ Professional Services and Customers
o Subject matter expert for product management
• Enterprise Best Practices- Is responsible for development and customer implementation of best practices to drive application quality, enterprise reuse and Customer BPM adoption focusing on:
o Reference Architecture(s)
o Security and user provisioning
o Deployment and solution strategies

• Technology Adoption- Through the creation of CoEs, this role will lead a team that supports our Customers to create the following roadmap to BPM adoption and maturity:

o Strategy: Engineer and operationalize an effective BPM CoE model that delivers a competitive advantage for Pegasystems Customers
